I first moved to Washington, DC in 1978 to attend Howard University. Four years later I graduated with a degree in Political Science and a fiancée, Patricia, a sixth generation Washingtonian. Less than a year later we were married. We have been married now for 35 years, and have been blessed with four children, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter. When it was time for us to purchase a home, we bought a house in what was then Ward 6, now Ward 7. We still live in that home with Clarita, our adopted cat, and Sophie, our Labradoodle.
From raising money to help young people showcase their talents, to working with the community to improve public safety, I have been always active in social, community and civic endeavors,
I am running to be an At-Large Member of the Council of the District of Columbia because I believe in DC. DC has been a wonderful place for us to raise our family. Our children attended DC public and/or public charter schools. They have all gone on to earn at least a Bachelor’s degree. I want to see those same opportunities made available to all children in Washington, DC.
The best days for Washington, DC are in front of us. By working together we can close the education gap, increase the health outcomes for our children and seniors, lower some, and eliminate other taxes and fees entirely, and have a Council of the District of Columbia that is truly responsive to the citizens we serve.
My name is Ralph J Chittams Sr, and I am asking for your vote for At-Large Member of the Council of the District of Columbia on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
